Backup Operators Cannot Administrate Server Manager Remotely

SYMPTOMS

Your account is a member of the Backup Operators group, but not a member of the Administrators group. Machines list as normal when you start Server Manager. If you try to use Properties from the Computer menu, you get an "access denied" error message.

CAUSE

The Backup Operators group does not have sufficient privileges to perform remote administration.

RESOLUTION

To remotely administrate domain members, you need to be added to the Administrators group.
