Memo Fields Cannot Be Created by Excel or Q+E 2.10

Last reviewed: November 2, 1994
Article ID: Q45956
Summary:

Excel cannot create the memo field data type when saving data in a dBASE III format because the information contained in a memo is not stored in the .DBF file.

Q+E does not have the capability to add fields or create .DBF files; therefore, it cannot create memo fields.

If a file is opened in Q+E that has a field defined as a memo field, memos can be added to those records that do not currently have a memo. Q+E also has the capability to edit existing memos. See pages 63-64 in the "Q+E User's Guide" for more information.
