  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 3.0, 4.0, 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

Tetris for Windows version 2.0, which is packaged with the Windows Entertainment Pack, causes the MINUS (-) key on the numeric keypad to display the message "EXT" in the right side of the status bar in Microsoft Excel. Therefore, the extended selection mode is invoked and it is not possible to use the numeric keypad to enter a negative number. The number will be entered in the cell, but it will be entered as positive instead of negative.

WORKAROUND

Exit and restart Windows.
