Fatal Tape Error: Adaptec AHA 1740/1744 and Exabyte 8200ST

SYMPTOMS

The Adaptec AHA 1740/1744 adapter and the Exabyte 8200ST do not work together. If you attempt a backup, a fatal tape error occurs.

CAUSE

The devices are electrically incompatible.

RESOLUTION

There is no workaround for this problem. Replace one of the devices with a compatible counterpart.
