MXL5: Vertical Oriented Text Printed Outside of Cell

ID: Q133138

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Text formatted with a vertical orientation is not printed correctly if the row height is not high enough to display the text completely. For example, if you type a sentence in a cell, and then format it to be aligned sideways, it appears to be cut off if the row height is too short. The text also appears the same way in Print Preview. However, if you print the sheet, the text appears to spill over into the rows below or above it even if text already exists in those rows.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the characters are sideways in either bottom-to- top orientation or top-to-bottom orientation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
