Preventing Excel Button Objects from Scrolling

SUMMARY

Excel 3.00 macro buttons will scroll off the screen as you scroll through the worksheet. One method to retain buttons in the viewing area is to split the window below the button.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create and assign the macro button.

  2. Use the upper-right split icon to split the window below the button.

  3. From the Options menu, choose Freeze Panes.

The macro button will not scroll out of the windows.

Preventing the Problem

Several methods can be used to prevent macro buttons from scrolling off the screen while scrolling through a worksheet. Below are two other possible methods:

  1. While arranging and protecting two worksheets (one with only buttons displayed and the other the worksheet), save both worksheets side-by-side as a workgroup.

  2. Create long buttons that span the entire worksheet.
