Modem Support in Windows NT and RAS 1.1a Client

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1

Several modems supported by Windows NT are not supported by Remote Access Service (RAS) Client version 1.1a. Some modems supported by RAS 1.1a are not supported by Windows NT.

The following modems are supported by Windows NT, but not by RAS 1.1a:

The following modems are supported by RAS 1.1a, but not by Windows NT:

   Hayes 1200
   Penril Alliance V.32
   Telebit QBlazer
   USRobotics 1200
   USRobotics 2400
   Western Datacom Worldcom

The Remote Access Service User's Guide, Chapter 4, does contain instructions for using unsupported modems, as well as instructions for the MODEMS.INF file to add additional modems.
