NWCONV Not Migrating Groups From NetWare Server

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Migration Tool for NetWare (NWCONV.EXE) in Windows NT Server version 3.5 to move groups from a NetWare server, Migration Tool for NetWare fails without any error messages.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if there is a group account with the same name as a user account on the NetWare server.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, rename the group name or the user name on the NetWare server and try the group migration again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Server versions 3.5, 3.51, and 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
