OS/2-Based Applications Using NetBIOS 3.0 Fail

SYMPTOMS

All OS/2-based applications using the NetBIOS 3.0 interface fail on Windows NT version 3.1. The following error message may appear immediately after you attempt to start the application:

   Not enough NetBIOS resources, names and nbc => requested: 1
   available: 0.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a problem in the OS/2 subsystem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
