Paintbrush Starts in Monochrome with Color Display

SYMPTOMS

When you start Paintbrush, the palette it displays is monochrome even though you have configured Windows NT for color video.

CAUSE

Windows NT incorrectly returns (GetDeviceCaps) the number of available colors to 32-bit drivers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
