The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server Version 4.0 and 4.0a

SYMPTOMS

While running the Add a New User Wizard, you may get the following error after creating the user account then clicking OK:

The Wizard was unable to read the permission information on the shared
folder CDRom. As a result, the shared folder list may be incomplete.

If you click OK, the Add a New User Wizard continues without error.

CAUSE

If you share the CD-ROM drive on a computer running Small Business Server, this error will occur. The wizard is looking for NTFS permissions and there are none on a CD-ROM drive. Because these permissions don't exist, the error is generated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can do one of the following:

  • At the error dialog box, click OK to continue.

    -or-

  • Stop sharing the CD-ROM drive.
