Small Business Server Setup for Alpha from Floppy Disk Fails

Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server Version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Small Business Server on an Alpha platform from floppy disks, setup fails with the following error message:

   Cannot find SETUPX.DLL.

When you click OK, a "Can't run 16-bit Windows program" message box displays the following message:

   Cannot find file A:\setup.exe (or one of its components). Check to
   ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries
   are available.

RESOLUTION

Do not install Microsoft Small Business Server from the floppy disks when you install on an Alpha-based platform.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in BackOffice Small Business Server version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
