SUMMARY

If you enter text into a cell and the text does not properly overflow into the adjacent cell (which is blank), check to see whether or not the worksheet is in formula view.

Microsoft Excel allows you to view either values or formulas in a worksheet. You can toggle this view by choosing Display from the Options menu and selecting the Formulas option. Or, you can use the keyboard shortcut by pressing CTRL+` (left single quotation mark). While in formula view, any text entered into a cell will not extend into an adjacent cell, regardless of the length of the text.
