SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows NT on an ACER AcerFrame 1000 (Model 1733), a trap 0x0000000D may occur during setup (from floppy disk or CD-ROM).

This is not a blue screen; this happens before setup. When you attempt to boot from the floppy disk, the screen goes to the Windows NT Portable Bootloader, then the following trap error appears on a dark screen:

  TRAP: 0X0000000D General Protection Fault.
  TR=0028, etc. (followed by half a screen-full of hex register dump)
  CR0=E0000011  CR2=00000000 CR3 = 00030000
  GDT Limit = 03FF BASE = 00036000  IDT LIMIT=07FF
  BASE =00036400
  (and so on....)
