Tutorial Problems Occur if Helvetica Font Does Not Exist

SUMMARY

At a certain point in Section 2, Lesson 2 of the Microsoft Excel version 3.00 Tutorial, you are required to enter "Helv 10 Bold" as a font. If Helv does not appear as a font selection or if Size 10 is not available, this action cannot be completed and you will be unable to continue the lesson. The program is essentially hung.

This problem may be caused by one of the following:

  1. No Helvetica screen fonts are installed. Check in the Fonts section of the Control Panel to ensure that appropriate Helvetica screen fonts exist.

  2. The Printer Fonts box in Excel's Format Font dialog box may have been checked before the Tutorial was started. The problem will exist in this case if your printer does not support Helvetica, or does not support it in 10-point.
