The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1

SYMPTOMS

You may find an incomplete firmware string in the Windows NT Registry Editor when viewing data under the following subkey when using a Tandberg tape drive:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\SCSI Port x\
SCSI Bus x\Target ID x\ Logical Unit ID x\
   Identifier : REG_SZ : TANDBERG TDC 4100 =05:??

The ?? should represent the firmware version of the tape device. However, your Tandberg drive may not report this value.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, you need to send the drive back to Tandberg for a firmware upgrade. It is important to specify that you want the SCSI 2 upgrade or the problem will persist.
