SUMMARY

When you use the Increase Decimal toolbar button on the Formatting toolbar, new number formats are created that appear on the Number tab of the Format Cells dialog box. (To access this dialog box, click Cells on the Format menu.)

MORE INFORMATION

These new number formats correspond to the number of decimal places added: one custom number format is added for each decimal place you add to the number when you use the Increase Decimal toolbar button. The new number formats are visible when you select either Number or Custom from the Category list on the Number tab.

NOTE: In Microsoft Excel version 7.0 and later, the custom number formats that are created are visible only when you click Custom in the Category list on the Number tab. When you click Number in the Category list, the Decimal Places value is set to the current number of digits to the right of the decimal point in the active cell.

These number formats remain, even when you use the Decrease Decimal toolbar button on the Formatting toolbar.

NOTE: In Microsoft Excel version 4.0, the Number Format dialog box is accessed by clicking Number on the Format menu.
