SUMMARY

Choosing Delete Record from the Edit menu in Q+E does not remove the selected records from dBASE compatible files. The records are flagged for deletion and remain in the file. You may view records that have been marked for deletion by choosing Select Deleted Records from the Select menu. To remove deleted records from the file, you must use the Pack File option when saving the file definition.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. To open the file definition, choose Define from the File menu.

  2. Type the name of the file you want to pack or select it from the File List box and choose OK.

  3. From the File menu, choose Save As.

  4. Select Options.

  5. Check the Pack File check box.

  6. Choose OK twice to save the file.

  7. Choose OK to remove records from the original file when the alert "File already exists: <Filename>. Would you like to continue" appears. If you do not want to remove marked records from the original file, select No and enter a different filename.

  8. Close the File Definition file.
