User Migration Fails when No Group Other Than Everyone Exists

SYMPTOMS

When you use the NetWare Migration Tool to transfer user and group accounts from a Novell server to a Windows NT server, if no group other than the default group of EVERYONE exists on the Novell server, no user accounts will be transferred to Windows NT. You will see the following error message in the log file:

   Error: getting groups on server: server-name

CAUSE

Under investigation.

WORKAROUND

Create another group other than EVERYONE on the Novell server before you migrate the accounts to Windows NT.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51 and 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
