Can't Open Attachments in Read-Only Message

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click an attachment in a message on a read-only public folder, a beep sounds and nothing happens. If you right-click the attachment and click Open File Attachment, the status bar message says "This command is not available because the document is locked for editing."

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Word for Windows 95, version 7.0a.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade to Word for Windows 95, version 7.0a.
