Characters Redraw Using Orchid Pro Designer II Video Driver

SUMMARY

In Word for Windows, the screen redraws and the current character appears very bright when you use the Orchid Pro Designer II video drivers. This behavior is more noticeable when you use 14-point or larger fonts or when you backspace to delete a character. The behavior does not occur if you use the Super VGA (SVGA, 800 x 600, 16 colors) video driver supplied with Windows version 3.1.

This behavior does not affect the printed document.

The "flickering" or "illuminated" appearance of characters in your Word document occurs at any of the three modes of the Orchid Pro Designer II video drivers:

   VGA
   800 x 600 (SVGA)
   1024 x 768

According to Orchid Technology, the current video drivers for the Pro Designer II are available for download from their BBS at (510) 683- 0327. The two self-extracting files, INSTALL.EXE and WIN3XDRV.EXE, are dated 4/3/92. These files contain the following video drivers, dated 3/1/92:
