SUMMARY

Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0 and 5.0 offer eight possible colors for formatting. The colors available are: black, blue, cyan, green, red, magenta, white, and yellow. No other colors are available. In Microsoft Word for the Macintosh version 3.x, you cannot format the color of characters.

In Word version 4.0, you can only apply these colors to text. In Word version 5.0, you can apply these colors to text and also to objects and lines in the picture window using the Picture command.

MORE INFORMATION

To change the color of characters in Word version 4.0 or 5.0, use the following steps:

  1. Select the text you want to format with color.

  2. From the Format menu, choose Character.

  3. From the Color list, select a color, and choose the OK button.

Word formats the selected text with the selected color.

To apply color to an object, line, or outline in the Word version 5.0 Picture command drawing tool, use the following steps:

  1. Click the object, line, or outline.

  2. Click the Fill Color Palette (the paint bucket in the black background) or, if you are selecting a line or outline, or click the Line Color Palette (the pencil in the black background). This brings up a color selection menu. Select a color, and choose the OK button.

The selected object, line, or outline is now formatted with the selected color.
