ID: Q128151

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Character styles such as Emphasis or Strong that are applied to hyperlink text are lost when the text is converted to HTML. By contrast, you can apply paragraph styles to hyperlink text.

CAUSE

Internet Assistant for Word does not currently support character formatting inside hyperlinked text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Assistant version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

You can add additional HTML tags to your HTML document by editing the document as text only. If you again edit the document in Word, save it, and close it, the character formatting will be removed, and you will need to manually reenter the HTML markup.
