After converting a document to HTML that contains an inline image within hidden text (a comment element), the text immediately following the image loses its hidden formatting. CAUSE

Word is picking up the end of the image tag as the end of the comment element.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word, version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUNDS

Method 1: Open the HTML document as text only and type in the correct

information for your inline image or comment elements. If you
reopen this document in Word, you will need to re-edit it as text
          only.

Method 2: Do not place an inline image within your comment elements.
