Insertion Point Scrolls Off Bottom of Screen

SYMPTOMS

If you press ENTER multiple times, when the insertion point reaches the bottom of the screen, Word for Windows scrolls the insertion point off the bottom of the screen instead of advancing the screen.

CAUSE

The Help for WordPerfect Users option is selected in the Tools Options dialog box, under the General tab. If this option is selected, the WPH mode indicator on the status bar is active.

After Word scrolls the insertion point off the screen, you can retrieve it by pressing a character or the SPACEBAR. In other words, only the ENTER key scrolls the insertion point off the screen.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows. This problem was corrected in versions 6.0a and later of Word for Windows.
