The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 5.0, 5.1

SYMPTOMS

In Word version 5.0, not all fonts are listed on the Font menu.

CAUSE

In Word 5.0, each menu is limited to 250 items. This limit is most often reached on the Font menu when more than 250 fonts are installed.

WORKAROUND

To display all fonts on the Fonts menu:

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Commands.

  2. Select List All Fonts from the command list, and then choose the Do It button.

This will add all fonts that are available to the system to the Fonts menu for the current session of Word. However, when you quit Word and reopen it, you will have to reselect List All Fonts to list all the fonts for the new session in Word.
