SGML: Mouse Pointer Remains Hourglass

SYMPTOMS

The mouse pointer remains an hourglass after SGML Author completes a build with the Other Descriptors pane open. It appears that SGML Author has hung (stopped responding) or that its performance is very slow. If you move the mouse, the pointer changes to an arrow. This behavior occurs when you are using a Dell S3 video driver with a resolution greater than 640 x 480.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a different video driver or change the screen resolution.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Dell S3 video drivers using a resolution greater than 640 x 480. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
