Status Bar Display of At and Ln Information in WinWord

SYMPTOMS

The status bar At and Ln information does not display in draft view in Word. If you are working in another view and the At and Ln information does not display, you may need to adjust the options described below.

Word 97

There are three possible reasons that the At and Ln information is not displaying. Use the following procedure to verify that the settings are correct:

  1. On the View menu click Normal.

  2. From the Tools menu click Options.

  3. Click the View tab and clear the Wrap to Window and Draft Font check boxes.

  4. Click the General tab and select the Background Repagination check box

Note: Online View will Ln information appear blank, although the At information will be available.

Word 7.0

There are two possible reasons that the AT and Ln information is not displaying. Use the following procedure to verify that the settings are correct:

  1. From the View menu click Normal.

  2. From the Tools menu click Options.

  3. Click the View tab and clear the Wrap to Window and Draft Font check boxes.

  4. Click the General tab and select the Background Repagination check box

Word 6.x

There are three possible reasons that the AT and Ln information is not displaying. Use the following procedure to verify that the settings are correct:

  1. From the View menu click Normal.

  2. From the Tools menu click Options.

  3. Click the View tab and clear the Wrap to Window and Draft Font check boxes

  4. Click the General tab and select the Background Repagination check box

Word 2.x

There are three possible reasons that the AT and Ln information is not displaying. Use the following procedure to verify that the settings are correct:

  1. On the View menu click Normal.

  2. On the View menu, make sure Draft Font is not turned on (there is not a check mark beside it).

  3. From the Tools menu click Options.

  4. Click the View tab and turn on the "Line Breaks and Fonts as Printed" check box.

  5. Click the General tab and select the Background Repagination check box.

Word 1.x

There are three possible reasons that the AT and Ln information is not displaying. Use the following procedure to verify that the settings are correct:

  1. On the View menu click Normal.

  2. On the View menu, click Preferences and turn on the Display As Printed check box.

  3. From the Utilities menu click Customize.

  4. Turn on the Background Repagination check box.

Note: The At and Ln information will not be available in Draft View. Switch to another View by clicking on the View menu and clicking Outline, Page, or Normal. Clearing the other view options chooses normal view.

MORE INFORMATION

If a printer driver is not selected in the Printer Setup dialog box, the At and Ln information does not display.

The status bar At and Ln number information is based on the current insertion point position. "At" refers to the insertion point position from the top of page. "Ln" refers to the current line number from the top margin.

Note: If your insertion point is in the header or footer of a document, the At and Ln information is not displayed in the status bar.
