Subscriber Incorrectly Assumes Publisher Direct Formatting

SYMPTOMS

Direct formatting applied to the first character of a Word for the Macintosh publisher is applied to all nonformatted text in a subscriber when you save the subscriber information in Microsoft Word for Windows 2.0 format and then open it in Word for Windows.

For example, if the letter H in the publisher "Have a nice day." is directly formatted All Caps, the subscriber information becomes "HAVE A NICE DAY."

WORKAROUND

To prevent direct formatting from affecting all nonformatted text in a subscriber, add a space, period, or other character that doesn't have direct formatting to the beginning of the text before publishing.
