Text Added to Left of Bookmark Included in WinWord Bookmark

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for Windows, if you create a bookmark from selected text and later add text immediately to the left of the bookmark, the new text becomes part of the bookmark.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. Create a new document, and type "aaa1bbb2ccc" (without the quotation

   marks).

2. Select the number 1 from the example above. From the Insert menu, choose

   Bookmark, and name it b1. Choose the OK button.

3. Go to the end of your document (CTRL+END). Press the Goto key (F5), type

   b1 on the status bar, and press ENTER.

4. Use the LEFT ARROW key to move one space before the beginning of the

   bookmark. Type some new text.

5. Move to another point in your document. From the Insert menu, choose

   Field, select Reference, and type b1 in the Field code box. This inserts
   a {Ref b1} field. The new text from step 4 is now part of the bookmark.

NOTE: This behavior does not occur if you type text to the right of the bookmark.
