MicroLathe version 1.5 is a 3D-rendering shareware program for Windows 3.1. The user plots points in a window in a "half-profile" view, as if shaping wood on a wood turning lathe. Images can be saved in two bitmap file types: TGA and BMP.
Once you've created the object in MicroLathe, you can save your image as a BMP for use with Word. To do this, choose Save Image from the File menu, and select BMP from the List Files Of Type box. If desired, specify the resolution of the bitmapped image in bits-per-pixel from the list to the right of the Save Image dialog box.
Note: The recommended resolution will be shown automatically in the list box. There is no advantage to saving in a higher resolution than the recommended setting. The image quality will not change, but the resulting file size will be larger. Specifying a lower resolution will result in a loss of color accuracy. To import the BMP image into a Word document, choose Picture from the Insert menu.
You can also place a MicroLathe image in a document by choosing Copy from the Edit menu in MicroLathe. In the Word document, choose Paste from the Edit menu. The Paste Special command is available on the Edit menu; however, since MicroLathe 1.5 is not OLE aware, using this option is not suggested. If you attempt to edit the MicroLathe object in Word, you will open the Word Picture Editor instead of MicroLathe, and you will not be able to modify the image.
