WD: Auto Spell Checker Reflags Words After Using Ignore All

SYMPTOMS

The Automatic Spell Checking feature may reflag one or more words as misspelled even though you chose Ignore All during a previous spell checking session. This behavior occurs when you open your document in a new session of Word and add new text to the document. Most frequently, Word reflags:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 7.0 and 7.0a for Windows 95 and Word 97 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

To avoid rechecking these words, use one of the following workarounds:

Method 1: Add the word to a custom dictionary.

Method 2: Insert a paragraph mark between the word and the new text.

Method 3: Format the text for No Proofing.
