WD: Bold Underlines Print Thicker on Color Quickdraw Printers

SYMPTOMS

Underlining that is also formatted as bold prints thicker than underlining that is not formatted as bold.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you print to a Color Quickdraw printer. By contrast, when you print to a PostScript printer, the underline thickness will appear the same whether the bold formatting has been applied or not.

WORKAROUND

Remove the bold or underline formatting.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 5.1 and 6.0 for the Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
