WD: Can't Print Page Range of a Linked Document

SYMPTOMS

You cannot print a range of pages from a Microsoft Word for the Macintosh document that is not active, even if that document is linked to the current document.

For example, if the current document contains pages 1 to 20 and a successive linked document contains pages 21 to 40, page ranges beyond page 20 cannot be printed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.

Method 1: Print from Within the Linked Document

To print a range of pages when the document is the second or later in a series of linked documents and the page numbers are dependent on preceding documents:

1. On the Format menu, click Document.

2. In the Document Dialog box, click File Series (Skip this step in Word version 4.0).

3. In the Number From box (the Number Pages From box in Word version 4.0), type the correct starting page number for this document.

Method 2: Use the Print Next File Option

To link a group of documents, click the Next File button in the Document dialog box (on the Format menu) and select a document to be the next file. To print these documents, click Print on the File menu while you are in the first document, and make sure that the Print Next File option is selected.
