  • Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition

SUMMARY

The procedures in the "More Information" section of this article describe how to change the row height or column width in tables in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh.

MORE INFORMATION

Word 6.0, 98

  1. Select the row that requires a change.

  2. On the Table menu, click Cell Height And Width.

  3. Click the appropriate tab.

  4. Change the settings. Click OK.

Word 4.0 and 5.x

To change the row height, do the following:

  1. Click a cell in the row that you want to change.

  2. On the Format menu, click Cells and type the desired height in the Minimum Row Height box. If you type a negative number, Word sets the spacing absolutely.

In Word version 4.0, the maximum value for the Minimum Row Height box is 6 inches, or 432 points.

In Word versions 5.0 and 5.1, the maximum value for the Minimum Row Height box is 10 inches, or 720 points.

To change the column width of a table, do the following:

  1. Select the column or a cell within the column you want to change.

  2. Do one of the following:

        - On the Format menu, click Cells and type the new settings for
          column width.

           -or-

        - Click the Scale icon on the right side of the ruler to display the
column markers, which appear as "T"s below the ruler scale. You can
now adjust the column width by dragging these markers right or left.
Do not drag the indent markers, which are found under the normal
ruler settings. Dragging the indent markers does not change the
column width and can truncate text in the column instead.
