WD: FileFind Command Does Not Open Advanced Find Dialog Box

SYMPTOMS

In Word 7.x, the FileFind WordBasic command opens the Open dialog box, but it does not display the Advanced Find dialog box.

CAUSE

The FileFind command has limited functionality in Word versions 7.x and later. The Find File dialog box used in earlier versions of Word has been replaced by the Advanced Find feature in Word versions 7.x and later.

RESOLUTION

To use the Advanced Find feature of Word 7.x, click Open on the File menu and then click the Advanced button.

For more information on the FileFind command, click Microsoft Word Help Topics on the Help menu, click the Index tab, type "FileFind" (without the quotation marks), select the "FileFind Statement" topic, and then click the Display button.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows 95, version 7.x. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

In Word 7.x, you cannot use a Dialog or Dialog() argument on the FileFind command to display the Word version 6.x Find File dialog box. In addition, Word 7.x does not support the following FileFind arguments:

   PatternMatch
   View
   SortBy
   ListBy
   SelectedFile
   ShowFolders
   Add
   Delete
