SUMMARY

The hardware and software requirements for the Movie Plug-In Module (PIM) to run with Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 5.0, are:

  • 68020, 68030, or 68040 CPU
  • 4 megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM)
  • System 6.0.7 or later. System 6.0.7 requires FS6Patch extension.
  • 1200K (1536K recommended) allocated to Word 5.0
  • QuickTime extension installed in the Extensions folder of the System Folder when using System 7.0, the root of the System Folder when using System 6.0.7.
  • The Movie PIM installed in the Word Commands folder.

The following Macintosh models support QuickTime:
  • Macintosh SE/30 (under System 7.0 only)
  • Macintosh II series
  • Macintosh LC and LC II
  • Macintosh Classic II
  • Quadra
  • PowerBook 140 and 170

QuickTime is a multimedia extension that allows Macintosh computers to view dynamic data (movies) in real time without extra hardware or software. QuickTime allows you to add sound, video, and animation to your documents the same way you copy and paste text and graphics.

The Quicktime extension is available through Apple dealers or directly from the Apple Fulfillment Center. There is no charge for the extension if it is obtained through Apple-Macintosh dealers or ordered directly from the Apple Fulfillment Center through an Applelink Network.
