The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 3.0, 3.01, 3.02, 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.1a

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, text formatted in color will print in grayscale if you choose the Color/Grayscale option in the Print command if you have a Print Driver version 6.0 or later.

Shading is available in Word 5.0 in the Format Borders dialog, and can be accomplished in Word 4.0 by embedding PostScript commands within the document.

To match the gray level, or percentage gray of the shading with that of the text, or to predict the percentage gray colored text will print, refer to the table below. This table is based on results generated with the LaserWriter IINTX.

   Color Percent gray
   --------------------
   Black 100.0
   Blue 90.0
   Red 70.0
   Magenta 62.5
   Green 45.0
   Cyan 30.0
   Yellow 12.5
   White 0.0
