To calculate the number of months between any two dates, you can use one of the following WordBasic macro examples.

The macro below does not take days into consideration. For example, given a start date of 10/31/93 and an end date of 11/2/93, one month is returned. This function can be useful in determining the number of months that have passed since a particular starting date.

   Sub MAIN
      dtEDate = DateValue("1/23/93")
      dtLDate = DateValue("11/2/93")
      intMonths = (Year(DtLDate) - Year(DtEDate)) * 12 + Month(DtLDate) \ 
      - Month(DtEDate)
      MsgBox Str$(intMonths) + " months"
   End Sub

For example, the following macro returns the number of months from 11/2/89 to the current date:

      intMonths = (Year(Today()) - Year(DtEDate)) * 12 + Month(Today()) \
