MORE INFORMATION

Use the appropriate method for your version of Microsoft Word.

Word 6.x and Later

Use the Format Painter feature to copy formattings from one paragraph to another.

Word 4.0, 5.x

  1. Turn on Show Paragraph Marks. Press COMMAND+8 (Word 6.0). From the View menu (5.x) or Edit menu (4.0), choose Show Paragraph.

  2. Highlight the ending paragraph mark of the paragraph with the desired formats, and copy it.

  3. Highlight the ending paragraph mark of the paragraph you want to apply the formatting to, and paste.

Those using MacWrite may be accustomed to copying and pasting rulers in their documents to switch between different paragraph formats. To accomplish the same effect without creating styles, use the above method.
