Although modifying the wizards' AutoNew macros can help to run the wizards faster, there is no guarantee that the performance enhancement will be significant. Other factors, such as the processor speed, the amount of memory installed on your computer, the number of applications currently running, and the overall optimization of your operating environment, among others, also affects the performance of your wizards.

The following macro adds the View Normal command to the AutoNew macro.

1. Open one of the wizards.

NOTE: All of the Wizards have a file name extension of .wiz.

2. On the Tools menu, click Macro.

3. In the Macros Available In list, select the wizard template name.

4. Select AutoNew in the List Of Macros and click Edit.

You will see the following text:

      Sub MAIN
          StartWizard
      End Sub

5. Add the ViewNormal command so that your macro now looks like this:

      Sub MAIN
          ViewNormal
          StartWizard
      End Sub

6. Save and close the macro.

7. Save and close the wizard template.

When you next create a document based on one of these wizards, you should notice a performance increase.
