XL: How to Create Add-in Application Name and Description

The information in this article applies to:


SUMMARY

In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above, you can create an add-in application that contains any of the following elements: functions, custom dialog boxes, custom menus, toolbars, and procedures. To create a name and description for your add-in application, use the Title and Comments boxes. In Microsoft Excel version 5.0, these boxes are found in the Summary Info dialog box and in Microsoft Excel versions 7.0 and later, they are found on the Summary tab of the Properties dialog box.

The name and description of an add-in application are displayed when you choose Add-ins from the Tools menu.

Microsoft Excel Version 5.0

To create a name and description for your add-in application, follow these steps:
  1. Open the workbook that you want to convert to an add-in application.


  2. On the File menu, click Summary Info.


  3. In the Title box, type the name for the add-in application. In the Comments box, type the description for the add-in application.

Microsoft Excel Versions 7.0 and Later

To create a name and description for your add-in application, follow these steps:
  1. Open the workbook that you want to convert to an add-in application.


  2. On the File menu, click Properties, and then click the Summary tab.


  3. In the Title box, type the name for the add-in application. In the Comments box, type the description for the add-in application.
