Last reviewed: February 5, 1998
Article ID: Q93430

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 5.1, 6.0

SYMPTOMS

If you select a PostScript font in Word for the Macintosh, your Macintosh SE computer may stop responding (hang) if you are running System 7.0 and Adobe Type Manager (ATM) version 2.03.

The problem also occurs if you choose the Drop Cap command from the Insert menu using text that contains PostScript font character formatting.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, turn off ATM and use a TrueType or bitmap font instead of a PostScript font.

STATUS

Adobe Systems, Inc., has confirmed this to be a problem in ATM version 2.03. For more information, contact Adobe at (408) 986-6500 (this is the Macintosh technical support phone number).

NOTE: ATM versions 2.03 and earlier are not compatible with System 7.1.
