SUMMARY

The standard sizes available for the LaserWriter, and Word version 4.0 and later, are as follows: 

   B5 letter: (6.88 x 9.92 inches)
   US letter: (8.5 x 11 inches)
   A4 letter: (8.25 x 11.67 inches)
   US legal:  (8.5 x 14 inches)
   Tabloid:   (11 x 17 inches) -- This size is available only with
                                  LaserWriter driver versions 6.0
                                  and later.

Notes on Word Version 3.x

Although Microsoft Word versions 3.x allow you to set custom paper sizes in the Page Setup dialog box (on the File menu) while using the LaserWriter, the margins are sometimes unexpectedly cut off. This occurs because the LaserWriter driver has only four paper sizes. When a custom paper size is chosen, Word looks at the height of the custom paper size. Word then finds the closest height in one of the standard paper sizes that is equal to or greater than the height of the custom paper size. That paper size is then used for printing. The LaserWriter starts printing in the upper-left corner of the paper.

Word versions 4.0 and later do not allow you to enter custom page sizes for the LaserWriter because of this behavior.
