WD: Tip of the Day Next and Back Buttons Not Available

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Word with the Tip Of The Day appearing as Word is started, the Next and Back buttons on the Tip of the Day Answer Wizard balloon will not be available to use. The only button available is Close.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

To toggle the Tip of the Day to show or not show when Word is started, follow these steps:

1. Start the Office Assistant.

   
       - If the Office Assistant is not visible, click the Office
         Assistant.
   
            NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Office Assistant
            button on the Standard toolbar. If Word Help is not installed
            on your computer, please see the following article in the
            Microsoft Knowledge Base:

       - If the Office Assistant is visible, but the Office Assistant
         balloon is not, hold down CTRL (Windows) or CONTROL (Macintosh)
         and click the Office Assistant.

2. Click Options and then click the Options tab.

3. Under Other Tip Options, click to toggle on (check) or off (no check)

   "Show the Tip of the Day at startup."

4. Click OK.

Once Microsoft Word starts with the Tip of the Day showing, you must click Close on the Tip of the Day balloon to turn this feature off. Note, however, that you can work on your document while the Tip of the Day balloon is showing.
