ID: Q155145

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you click in a blank table cell at the top of the page, the cell to the left is selected (highlighted) instead.

This happens when all of the following conditions are true:

CAUSE

There is no end of cell or paragraph mark in the portion of the cell you are selecting.

WORKAROUND

Move to the bottom of the previous page, and click in the cell you're trying to select. Press ENTER until the insertion point moves to the top of the next page. You can now successfully click in the cell at the top of the page.

MORE INFORMATION

Table rows are set to Allow Row To Break Across Pages by default. When text in one cell of a table row causes the table row to break to the next page, all the cells in that row increase in height and break across the page break. A cell that does not have sufficient text in the cell to flow to the next page keeps its end of cell marker or its paragraph mark above the page break. Thus, there is no end of cell mark or paragraph mark in the remainder of the cell that has broken to the next page.
