WD6X: Decorative Symbols Confuse Grammar Checker

SYMPTOMS

The grammar checker does not correctly recognize sentences that contain decorative symbols. For example, the grammar checker selects the text that follows the symbol and displays the following suggestion:

   This does not seem to be a complete sentence.

This behavior occurs when you use the Symbol command (on the Insert menu) and choose one of the decorative fonts to add symbols to your text. In contrast, this behavior does not occur when you choose Normal text instead of the decorative font.

WORKAROUND

Instead of using the decorative font, type the keyboard character that corresponds to the symbol, and then format the character with the appropriate symbol font. The grammar checker treats the character as part of the whole sentence.
