WD6X: ToolsOptionsSave Doesn't Remove Password

SYMPTOMS

The WordBasic macro command ToolsOptionsSave .password="" does not remove a password that has been set on a document. By contrast, the macro command FileSaveAs .password="" does.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade Your Version of Word (Word for Windows Only)

To resolve this problem, if you are running Windows, upgrade your version of Word to Word 6.0c for Windows, Word 6.0 for Windows NT, or Word 7.0 for Windows 95.

Use FileSaveAs(All Versions of Word using WordBasic)

To work around this problem use this

   FileSaveAs .password=""

instead of this:

   ToolsOptionsSave.Password=""

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Word version 6.0 for Windows NT, Word version 6.0c for Windows, and Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.
