WD97: Incorrect SectionPages Result with Background Printing

SYMPTOMS

The result of the SectionPages field is printed incorrectly although it is displayed correctly on the screen.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the SectionPages field is placed inside the header or footer and you print with the Background Printing option turned on. (To locate this option, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Print tab.)

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disable Background Printing and then update the field before you print your document. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Print tab.

  2. Click to clear the Background Printing check box.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Update the field by:

    a. Point to the field not updating.

    b. Right mouse click to activate the secondary menu.

    c. Click Update Field.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION
