ACC: HPPCL5A Printer in DEBUG Windows Causes GP Fault

Printing on a HPPCL5A printer while using the DEBUG version of Windows 3.1 causes a general protection (GP) fault and generates the following error message:

err ACCESS->HPPCL5A GLOBALSIZE+C: Invalid global handle: 0x000


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access versions 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

WARNING: Following these steps will cause a general protection fault on your computer. Make sure you save and close any open work on your computer before following these steps.
  1. Use DEBUG Windows.


  2. Open a database.


  3. Create a new report.


  4. Add two labels that overlap to the report.


  5. Set the printer to the HPPLC5A printer, and then choose Print from the File menu. Note that you receive a GP fault and the error message mentioned earlier in this article.
